Daily Ritual

Mastering Daily Ritual – Depressed State on 4490 Records & Contergan Punk.

“Hafiz, the man of the golden touch. While Pazahora will probably always be my favorite Singaporean band, everything Hafiz touches is gold, and this is no exception. Daily Ritual is the newest Hafiz band and seems to be taking southeast Asia by storm, seeing as this debut EP sold out instantly just in their region of the world, and relatively few copies made it out west.

Daily Ritual play a standard style of catchy, melodic punk rock, in line with such bands as The Observers, Red Dons, Autistic Youth, the Estranged, etc. The melodies are memorable, the songs are catchy, the record is fucking good all around.

If you are someone that actually cares about punk on a worldwide scale, this is a good record to scope to hear something that’s currently exciting and relevant in southeast Asia. This is one of the better (and more popular) releases to come out of southeast Asia, pick it up and discover what the punks are dancing to on the other side of the world.”

Autistic Youth

Mastering Autistic Youth‘s “Graves” 7″ on Taken By Surprise and Sabotage Records.

Chemcial livin

Mastered here, Chemicals – Chemical Livin’ LP Review from OX #105:

CHEMICALS are punks on drugs, whose hot-wired Trashpunkjunk can be associated with O.C. beachsounds of the “Führers…”-SMOGTOWN or GEARS and the MEAN JEANS on Pepp not canned beer, with their in your face “Screw you!”-nihilism as life’s central philosophy and was released in 2009 on vinyl. I myself haven’t noticed CHEMICALS for way too long; so it’s about time to praise them without restraint, to see their 1.5 minute punksmasher between middle finger salute and chronic liver infection as a glimpse of hope. And yes, they are the kind of band whose name you should get tattooed under your BLACK FLAG bars, whose slogan “Wanna die drinkin’ peppermint schnapps!” will be endorsed enthusiastically in lots of places. Jonny Cat – headhoncho of the label with the same name – has gathered RED DONS personnel here to fire off 12 opinionated and unadorned snotgrenades into the Plastic Punk ranks and to construct an album whose shortness and versatility doesn’t give you a second to breathe; killer record! Don’t frown upon the current meager distribution situation: the band will release their second album before the end of the year, tour Europe in April 2013 and will bring a repress of this record. Youth Avoiders  – Time Flies 7″ review in Maximum Rock n Roll.

“[POST-PUNK POP] Red Dons’ moddish post-punk has never lacked for melody, but the Dons’ new Dirtnap Records 7-inch might be the Portland quartet’s most comely pop product yet. A-side “Auslander” comes within spitting distance of the five-minute mark without ever threatening to overstay its welcome, which is a rare feat. The anthem flies by in classic Adverts fashion, with punk fury mellowed by a helping of melancholic world-weariness; it’s one of those expansive love songs in which romance escapes the trite ties of pair-bonding and attaches itself to existential equations. Which is to say you don’t need to be in love to love “Auslander.” You need only be alive. – Willamette Week

Red Dons at their most straightforward, melodic, and powerful. The A side in particular might be their best song yet. 2 new tracks, written in 2010-2011 between Chicago, Brazil, London, Portland, and Hamburg, recorded in Sweden in a cold war era bomb shelter during a 2011 European tour by Lars Ekman (Hanna Hirsch, Förmögenhet). All copies come with download coupon. FIRST 200 ARE ON BLUE VINYL AND ARE AVAILABLE ONLY FROM GREEN NOISE RECORDS!

Thee Chemicals – Chemical Livin’

Recorded in 2009 at Buzz Or Howl Studios Portland, Oregon with Jonny Cat on vocals and the Red Dons as back up during the same sessions as the Fake Meets Failure LP. Actually it was even recorded on the same master tape. Released on Jonny Cat Records, the very same legendary underground label that is everywhere and nowhere at once, who put out records by the Triggers, Clorox Girls, Observers, Flip-Tops, Diskords, Autistic Youth and many many others.

The band has gone through several mutations.

The first 7″ “Bubble City” saw Jonny working with members of the Triggers.

Later the members of the Red Dons joined up and recorded the Chemical Livin’ LP.

Next they recorded the “Don’t Cry for Me” 7″ with a new members except Richie on drums.

Currently they are still playing and recording. Another LP is in the works and they are working with Taken By Surprise Records on the next release and represses.

Experience the Genius of Jonny Cat and download the Chemical Livin’ LP HERE.
